• Senior Principal Consultant, Duties include geotechnical and materials engineering for large and complex projects; problem; development of engineering methods and solutions for difficult conditions. Project Principal for SH130 Materials and Pavement Design. Project Designer/Manager for Subsidence Mitigation of Glenrock and Rock Springs Wyoming.

Duties include project and program management, engineering policies and practices, geotechnical and materials engineering for pavements, transportation facilities and large projects. Chemically stabilized sub grades, bases and sub bases. Polymer modification of asphalt cements and applied research in pavements, materials, subsidence and geotechnical engineering.

Duties include administration, engineering management and budget functions; conducting geotechnical investigations for commercial, industrial and residential sites; preparation and review of engineering reports; asphalt concrete applied research, special projects; computer program development; special lab equipment design and development. Duties included geotechnical investigations for commercial, industrial and residential sites; preparation of engineering reports; design and analysis of drilled pier and pile foundations for large structures; slope stability analysis; and pavement analysis design.
1974 to 1975
• Research Associate, Bureau of Engineering Research, University of Texas at Austin. Applied research on the effects of various loading conditions on the resistance-displacement relationships of axially loaded foundation piles in soft clays as related to offshore platforms.

• Glennwood Canyon I-70 –OCEA Award Winner – materials engineering, pavement design, failed retaining wall restoration, bridge joint repair, bridge realignment, 800,000 pound lateral load test on 7 foot diameter cassion, blast monitoring, foundation inspection, asphalt mix design for bridge decks, segmental bridge inspection, erection observation, slope stability enhancement, tunnel construction inspection and testing.
• Denver International Airport – OCEA Award Winner – Foundation Investigation for the Terminal, Airport Office Building and Parking Garages, Airfield pavement analysis for heavy aircraft up to 1,200,000 pounds, Airfield foundation research with Waterways Experiment Station, Soil-Sulfate Reaction research and mitigation, Concourse A and B settlement correction using compaction grouting, Quality Assurance Program Manager, Expert Witness for materials disputes.
• Design and Construction Standards for Pavements for the Metropolitan Pavement Engineers Council-Traffic Studies to determine pavement loading, development of design procedures and analysis for expansive sub grades, use of elastic layer methods to adjust AASHTO design procedures and analysis for fatigue lives, development of construction and material specifications.
• Wyoming Mine Reclamation Project – Investigation, design, plans and specifications, bidding and construction management of over $65,000,000 worth of construction costs, development of void fill grouting method of mitigation. Development of analytical methods for evaluation of subsidence potential using bedrock strength, density, thickness and subsidence failure mechanism.
• E-470/C-470 – Segment 1 geotechnical investigation and pavement design including sub grade stabilization using lime in high sulfate soils, developed maintenance program and performed testing and observation for construction, investigated and evaluated differential movements caused by heave in segments 2, 3 and 4, provided consultation and geotechnical engineering for the E470 Authority.
• Farm Credit Building Full-Scale Load Test – Designed and performed full scale load testing on three floors of new office building to determine actual allowable loading.
• Slope Stability Analysis of 1200 foot Spoil Pile, ColoWyo Mine –investigation and analysis of an existing spoil pile, which was constructed using non-approval techniques, Investigation of density profile using 30 cubic foot density tests.
• Analysis and Correction of failed foundations – El dorado Ridge Office Building – Investigated and analyzed foundation piers which had failed in compression and had up to 3 inches of differential movement, designed correction, monitored repair and provided expert witness testimony for subsequent dispute.
• SH130 – Geotechnical Engineering and Pavement Design – New 100 mile Interstate level highway that included significant areas of high sulfate bearing soils and highly expansive sub grade. Used Mechanistic design methods and innovative slope stability analysis and treatment methods.
• NTTA Best Practices in Design, Construction and Maintenance of High Performance Toll way Pavements – A white paper involving new concepts in consultant selection, traffic analysis, design methodology, contracting innovations including extended warranties, Contractor Partnering/Management and Pavement Systems. Development of Design Standards Manual to include investigation, lab testing, traffic analysis, thickness design and life cycle cost analyses of design alternatives. Subsequent volumes include the Pavement Design Manual and the Geotechnical Engineering Design Manual.
